Vinotherapy

Vinotherapy describes the merging of alternative therapies and therapeutic benefits of wine.

The interest in wine culture has been increasingly shown in our society with consumers wanting to experience the wines and not only tasting them. Nowadays wine is being appreciated as more than a gastronomic accompaniment and it has become a healthy lifestyle therapy.

Vinotherapy is created in the French region of Graves, a place where we can find many of the most ancient wineries and vineyards in Europe. The innovators were Matilde Cathiard and Bertrand Thomas, two vine dressers that created the first cosmetics with more than 25 products in 1995 after discovering the grape possibilities. Although in Roman times and Medieval Age women already knew its benefits and applied a face mask with crushed grapes. This treatment was quickly expanded, being able to be found not only in France but also in Spain, Argentina, Brazil or Italy and through America and many Asian countries.

The grape’s magical component is resveratrol, a compound with presence in grapes and red wine which is an excellent antioxidant. It is 50 times more powerful than vitamin E and 30 times more than C. It shows up mainly in the grape skin and seeds.

Vinotherapy has an indisputable evidence of health and skin benefits described as follows:

  • Deeply skin moisturizing with brightness and strength and also boosting collagen production.
  • Counteracting the negative effects of age spotting by resurfacing and promoting energy to the skin.
  • Improving the peripheral circulation of the skin by relieving leg exhaustion and varicose veins.
  • Breast toning, gluteus reaffirmation, abdomen reduction and muscle resurfacing.
  • Massaging has a great relaxing power for stress release and also gives a nice comfort sensation.
